goodbyes to my friends is the bit that will be sad, after 5 years with them. ima gonna miss them.

I am joining a team that is at the top level. There is not another level after Chelsea. I am joining with big names like (John) Terry, (Frank) Lampard, (Didier) Drogba and (Nicolas) Anelka and I can be part of this great team.

Ramires convinced me to join Chelsea. I have spoken to Ramires many times and he said I can succeed in England. I join Chelsea wanting to help and learn. I have watched many games in the Premier League and it’s always an incredible spectacle. To be at a club with John Terry and other stars is enormous for me and a personal challenge and I am determined to succeed.

I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new team-mates this season and for many years to come. Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to England, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team. I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season.

For me, the Premier League is the best league in the world. You watch a game in the Premier League and the speed of the game, the pace and the power all stand out. To have the opportunity to come here and test myself at the highest level, week in and week out, is incredible and to try to take the things I do as a player and make them count at the highest level - it’s a great challenge.
